Regarding the debate on health care, both candidates get an “F.” Governor Romney and President Obama both need remedial education on patient safety. Romney calls our health care system the best in the world. Obama has said the same thing, as did Bush and Clinton. This is the third biggest lie because all of the health statistics tells us that we are doing worse than 27 other countries that spend about half as much on health care services and products per person; not to mention the 200,000 people being killed every year through sloppy techniques, self-serving management and human error. Ours is a system of “let’s try this and see if it works” with a corrupt FDA passing drugs to market, based on bogus research. Romney is right to call for the repeal of the Obamacare shell game, but he has nothing to offer in its place.
Both candidates recognize Medicare as a huge financial albatross, but neither one mentioned that in 20 years it will collapse the entire economy with tens of millions of people requiring hospital care at an average cost of $100,000 per year per person totaling about 300 trillion dollars annually. That’s about eight times more than the sum total of everyone’s salary. Accordingly, Obama plans to cut out hospital care benefits for the older seniors turning us into a society that kills off its parents and grandparents to survive and Romney doesn’t seem to be dealing with the inevitable financial doom that a three hundred trillion dollar annual deficit will cause. The plan by which we can avert such disaster is already laid out by the leaders of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) and published on line as “The New Priorities for America.” Both candidates have access to this report and both chose to ignore this cohesive plan to remake the American Health Care system into a successful industry running at a fraction of the current costs.
